Ayutthaya Historical Park

ayutthaya-banner From 1350 until 1767 Ayutthaya used to be the capital of Thailand before the Burmese army destroyed it. What is left now is ruins which you still can visit.

In 1976 the reconstructed ruins were considered a historical park. In 1991 a part of that park was declared an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ayutthaya

I visited the park because a friend wanted to see it and because my husband and I passed by it so many times we were a bit ashamed we hadn’t been there before. Many people I meet who visited the Ayutthaya Historical Park were crazy about it. To be honest I’m not going to praise it. I wasn’t that impressed, but I think that’s because I’m never into geology and history. I do understand why many people like their visit there. The ruins visualise what happened there in the past.

It’s not a secret that I’m more into animals and nature then into culture. Don’t let my indifference stop you from visiting the Ayutthaya Historical Park. If I would want to stop you from something it’s from taking a ride on the elephants next to the park. They really don’t belong there.
