Sri Udom Orphanage
Sri Udom Orphanage is a shelter for Hmong children. Some are orphans some are children of underprivileged families and some are technically orphans as their parents are in jail. The Sri Udom Orphanage is founded by the monks who live in Wat Sri Udom, the temple next to the Orphanage.
If I understood correctly Greenway Thailand works together with the Sri Udom Orphanage. As the website of Greenwork doesn’t work, I’ll have to rely on my memory. I think they place volunteers from all around the world at the school to mainly do the construction and renovation work. Some will stay for one week and some will stay for up to 6 months.

In the orphanage, which is also a school the Hmong children are welcomed to learn the Thai language. 10 Thai teachers are present at the school and they get a bit of financial support of H.M. the princess. The Hmong kids who go to the school are not only taught the Thai language, they also get the Thai citizenship.
As there are many kids and only 10 teachers the organisation can use any help you can offer. Besides from volunteering there are 3 other options. The first option is you can donate to Greenway and they will use this to buy supplies for the infrastructure. The second is you can donate money to Sri Udom Orphanage. You can decide on what they will spend it (they will give you suggestions) or you can let the teachers decide on what is needed. And the 3rd and last is you can donate clothes, school supplies, food or anything directly to the children.
This was the second time I’ve been to the orphanage. (Read about my first visit there.) It was my dad’s birthday and he wanted to visit the Sri Udom Orphanage and donate some money to the children. The infrastructure needs some fixing up for sure, but the children seem very happy. Lucky for these children an organisation like Greenway and the charity of the monks at Wat Sri Udom excists.
