Sakunothayan Waterfall

banner-12 Sakunothayan Waterfall, previously know as Wang Nok Aen Waterfall, is located 33 km from Phitsanulok center on Highway number 12.

Sakunothayan Waterfall is a very big and wide waterfall. I visited the waterfall begin July, which should be the start of rainy season, but this year it’s quite dry and hot. Meanwhile Sakunothayan Waterfall is already beautifull.

When the water is not too high you can cross the river by a tree trunk. Be careful though it can be a bit slippery. My husband fell while jumping over a puddle between two rocks. But then again, he is quite clumsy.

From the other side of the river, the waterfall is the most beautiful to me. Or maybe I think that way because I like going a little off track.

When you head back to Highway number 12, at your left there is another hiking trail leading to the river. There you can sit next to the river and have a picnic or enjoy the scenery.

In my opinion Sakunothayan Waterfall is the most impressive waterfall on Highway number 12 which I have seen so far. Mostly because it was the biggest and also because there were no shops or any commercial purposes to be seen anywhere.

Other waterfalls on Highway number 12 :

Kaeng Song Waterfall - 45 km from Phitsanulok center

Poi Waterfall - 67 km from Phitsanulok center

Kaeng Sopha Waterfall - 71,5 km from Phitsanulok center
