Thailand for farang

Malaysia

For my husbands visa, we have to leave the country every 3 months. We haven’t took the time to apply for a marriage visa. We’ll do that later, in 3 months we visit our relatives in Belgium anyway. We went to Kuala Lumpur this time. Kuala Lumpur has some beautiful buildings. There is a variety of nationalities.

I wanted to try some Malaysian dishes, but because of the presence of many nationalities it was hard to see the origin of dishes. I did find and try ‘Nasi Lemak’ and ‘Beef Rendang’. Nasi Lemak is Coconut milk rice with sambal , crispy anchovies, toasted peanuts and cucumber. This was a really delicious dish. I’m going to try to make this in Thailand later. Rendang is a beef dish stewed in coconut, herbs and coconut milk. It was a bit spicy for me, but still very good. It wasn’t too spicy for my husband, so it was just me. I honestly can recommend both dishes.

Visiting Malaysia after being in Thailand for a long time is like going back to our home country. Every Time I enter a restaurant or store, I get a bit sad. No more extremely, but sincere friendly people around you anymore. I’ve missed the Thai kindness. I haven’t been in another country that has as friendly people as Thailand.

Thailand deserves the name ‘Land of smiles’. It also makes me smile and happy. It’s good to be home again (in Uthai Thani).
